Design Trends for 2025

Every year brings new design trends, and 2025 is shaping up to be a year of thoughtful, timeless choices that prioritize both beauty and function. As we look forward, it's clear that interiors are continuing to evolve toward spaces that feel personal, intentional, and deeply connected to how we live. Here are a few of the key design trends I see taking center stage in 2025—and how you can incorporate them into your own home.

Mixing Patterns and Textures

Layering patterns and textures is an effortless way to bring personality and depth into your home. In 2025, the focus will be on mixing prints, fabrics, and materials to create a collected, curated look. From pinstripes paired with florals to cozy wool throws draped over rattan furniture, the key is balance—allowing patterns and textures to complement rather than compete.

How to Incorporate: Start small with patterned throw pillows, textured rugs, or layered bedding. If you’re feeling bolder, mix patterned wallpaper with a complementary fabric on upholstered furniture.

Reduce Waste, Reuse/Repurpose Furniture, and Recycle Vintage Pieces

Steps towards sustainability remain at the forefront of design, and reusing and repurposing what we already have, as well as shopping vintage can go a long way. Vintage furniture, upcycled pieces, and heirlooms not only reduce waste but also add unique character and history to a space. By giving old pieces a new life, you’re designing with intention and sustainability in mind.

How to Incorporate: Shop vintage markets or antique stores for one-of-a-kind furniture. Consider repurposing an old dresser as a bathroom vanity, refinishing a family heirloom, or updating existing pieces with new upholstery or hardware. When you do buy new, invest in pieces that are built with high quality materials that can become heirloom pieces to pass on.

Don't Be Afraid of Color

For years, white and “sad beige” spaces have dominated interiors, but 2024 saw more and more people playing with color. In 2025, I see interiors continuing to trend toward more colorful, vibrant spaces. We’re not saying goodbye to white and neutral rooms, but we are welcoming more of a mix of bold, rich colors that energize and inspire. Think deep greens, earthy terracotta, ochre yellows, and jewel-toned blues—tones that bring warmth and personality into your home. When I am going white or neutral, I like to mix it up with an interesting wall treatment, like a creamy white roman clay or plaster wall instead of painted white drywall.

How to Incorporate: If you’re new to color, start with small accents like throw pillows, artwork, or painted furniture. For a bigger statement, try painting a single wall or room in a bold hue to anchor the space.

Shop Local

Supporting local makers and artisans is more than just a trend—it’s about creating spaces that are both meaningful and unique. In 2025, the spotlight is on locally made furniture, art, and decor that reflect craftsmanship and care. Shopping local not only strengthens communities but also gives your home a sense of authenticity and connection, and you are able to learn the story of the pieces you are purchasing straight from the makers.

How to Incorporate: Explore local galleries, artisan markets, and small businesses to find handmade pieces. Incorporate locally crafted pottery, art, or textiles into your space for a personal touch.

Prioritize Using Natural Materials

Natural materials—like wood, stone, linen, and clay—bring warmth, texture, and sustainability into a home. In 2025, the emphasis is on creating spaces that feel grounded, organic, and connected to nature. Natural materials age beautifully, adding timeless appeal and durability.

How to Incorporate: Choose furniture and decor made from natural materials—a stone tabletop, linen curtains, or a reclaimed wood dining table. Bring in tactile elements like woven baskets, clay pots, or rattan lighting fixtures for an earthy touch.

Final Thoughts

Design trends for 2025 are all about authenticity, sustainability, and warmth. From embracing color to reusing and repurposing what we already have, this year’s trends encourage us to design spaces that tell a story—our story. Whether through locally crafted pieces, natural materials, or layered textures and patterns, the goal is to create a home that feels personal, intentional, and uniquely yours.
